09/09/2026 - Second Wednesday Writer's Café
Join us and local author Rachel Reed at Black Cat Fables for a monthly coffee and writing social club!
Searching for time and space to write?
Treat yourself to coffee, tea, and an hour or two of dedicated writing time at Black Cat Fables every second Wednesday this fall. After settling in, we will write independently for an hour or so, and close by sharing what we are working on. Come for the mutual accountability; stay for the writerly chit-chat... or slip away to browse the bookstore's treasures. Whatever your tolerance for socializing, you deserve to bask in the external motivation of companionable silence. All experience levels welcome!
1 drink minimum; B.Y.O. writing supplies. RSVP encouraged, but not required.
About Rachel:
Rachel writes (non)fiction, book reviews, and mediocre poetry. Her work has appeared in Rose City Sisters, The Literary Review, Angles Flight: Literary West, Anthropology & Aging, Language in Society, and other places you've never heard of. An aspiring novelist, Rachel has been writing books since 1995, but has yet to finish one. This group is part of her convoluted plot to trick herself into finally completing a novel, and to support others in maintaining their writing practice. We can do this!
When: Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 10am-12pm
Where: Black Cat Fables (415 S. Myrtle Avenue, Suite B, Monrovia, CA 91016)
Our Social Club Commitment
To ensure our craft clubs remain a welcoming and safe space for all participants, we ask that all attendees agree to the following:
- Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all members with kindness and respect. Discrimination, hate speech, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated.
- Confidentiality: What’s shared in the group stays in the group. Personal stories or opinions discussed during meetings should remain private unless explicitly stated otherwise by the speaker.
- Open-Mindedness: We’re here to share ideas and learn new skills from one another. Participate respectfully and engage with curiosity, even when opinions differ.
- No Judgment Zone: We celebrate varying levels of participation. Whether you’re brand new to crafting or a seasoned expert, your presence is welcome here.
By joining a social club at Black Cat Fables, you agree to help foster a safe, positive, and inclusive space for all participants.
