What to Expect:
The “Write a Horror Novel” writing workshop will include an introduction by Erik, followed by an interactive writing workshop with several writing prompts (bring a notebook and pen or a laptop), a Q&A session, and a book signing! Your ticket includes a copy of Erik’s book Write a Horror Novel and a drink of your choice from our café!

About Erik Patterson:
Erik Patterson is a queer playwright based in LA. He won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for One of the Nice Ones and his play Handjob recently ran to sold-out houses at Echo Theater Company in Atwater Village. His theater work has been produced or developed by Playwrights' Arena, the LATC, Theatre of NOTE, The Actors' Gang, Lark Play Development Center, Moving Arts, Naked Angels, the Mark Taper Forum, New Group, and others. Theater nominations include the Ovation Award, the Stage Raw Award, the LA Weekly Award, and the GLAAD Media Award. His writing for TV has been recognized with the Humanitas Prize and the Writer's Guild Award, as well as two Emmy nominations. Erik is perhaps most known for writing the iconic Radio Rebel ("I am Radio Rebel") for the Disney Channel and Another Cinderella Story for ABC Family, as well as numerous romantic films for the Hallmark Channel, including the Sister Swap films, Love Under the Stars, Love on a Limb, and Love at First Bark. As an educator, he created Your Daily Writing Prompt on TikTok, where he shares writing tips with his 300k followers. He is currently working on a series of writing prompt books for Simon & Schuster, including the recently released craft book Write a Romantasy: 99 Writing Prompts to Craft a Tale of Heart and Heroism. Erik is a graduate of Occidental College and the British American Drama Academy.

- Our workshops are designed to start promptly, respecting the value of your time. To ensure a smooth start, please arrive 5-10 minutes early for sign-in.
- We understand that unforeseen circumstances may cause late arrivals. However, please note that arrivals more than 15 minutes late may need to catch up on their own. Unfortunately, we cannot allow participation for those arriving 30 or more minutes after the class has started.
- We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to insufficient registration numbers. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, you can use your reservation for another workshop of equal value or pay the difference between workshops.
- Refunds are otherwise not available for our events under any circumstances. However, you can transfer your reservation to another workshop of equal value or pay the difference between workshops.
- Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, notify the teacher upon arrival.
